Richmond reading

Next Friday, July 28, I’ll be returning home to Richmond to read at Chop Suey Books, my favorite bookstore in River City. The reading’s at 7 p.m. and unless Ward, the store’s owner, has undergone some sort of deep philosophical shift, it’ll be free.

So come on down. I don’t know where we’re gonna stay, since our house’s new owners are closing on it that day, but I’ll probably be up for an adult beverage or six afterwards.

Nice job with the Richmond reading. All that practice with being a show biz front man finally paid off. It was good to see you and Ewa, and Shannon is still sorry she missed it.

The book is great. I admire the wit and work that went into it. Your most impressive feat is to portray these people clearly but without derision. No wonder you’re getting reviewed well from all sides — there’s no higher praise for a journalist, is there?

I just read your Eggs history and remember going to Barrett’s place to record regularly when I lived in Annandale - it was quite a scene around there. Of course, I was in a pretty crappy band at the time. I left the NoVa area and moved to Richmond just before Dain Bramage lost its drummer to Seattle and world fame. Typical of me to miss the party.
